Here are some details on the exam: Content: - It focuses on lecture, homework, and discussion since Exam 1 and through section 8.1. That is, it focuses on sections 6, 7, and 8.1. - Regarding R, I recommend reading and running the R code in the notes. You will not need to write R code. Resources: - It is open book and open notes. You may do internet searches. You may not ask questions related to the exam and get them answered by people via the internet or any other medium. - It requires a calculator that can find the sample mean and sample standard deviation of a data set. (The final exam requires a calculator that can also find the correlation, slope, and intercept of the regression line for a two-variable data set.) - You may use R if you find it helpful. (Again, you do not need to write R code.) Academic integrity: - You must work on the exam only by yourself. - You may not discuss or share information about the exam with anyone, via any communication medium, while the exam is available in Canvas. Format: - It will be like a Scantron exam, except that it will use a Canvas quiz in the place of a paper Scantron answer sheet. The exam questions will be in a ".pdf" file. There is a "practice Exam 2" (worth no points) to illustrate this format in Canvas; its four questions are just repeated from Exam 1. - (Note that my administration made a teacher replacement plan to prepare for sick teachers, and prefers an auto-grading exam so that, should I get sick, a new teacher can administer the exam efficiently.) - It will probably have 25 4-point questions or 40 2.5-point questions. Timing: - I will design the exam for a 75-minute class period. - You may use any 2-hour block during the 38 hours from 10:00 a.m. Thursday, 4/2/20, through 11:59 p.m. Friday, 4/3/20 (on Canvas's clock/calendar). - Students for whom I have received a "McBurney Center Faculty Notification Letter" recommending extra time for exams may use any 3-hour block during the same 38 hours. - If you have trouble with internet connectivity, you may extend your time block by yourself, on the honor system, only enough to resolve that trouble, within the same 38 hours. Formulas: - My posted formulas sheet (in the Exam 2 line of the schedule) includes formulas for units 6, 7, 8, and 9. Only those formulas on its first page, and the top-left block of its second page, are relevant to Exam 2.
