Hello STAT 304 Students, Welcome to Statistics 304: R for Statistics II. Our TA is Xindi Lin. Before class begins on Monday, July 18, please visit https://canvas.wisc.edu/courses/305688 and do these things, which take about 75 minutes: - If you did not just take STAT 303, Click "Course Overview" and watch the 16-minute video. - Click on "Syllabus" and read the syllabus. - Click on "Schedule" and read the schedule. - If you did not just take 303, install the required software from the "Install R" and "RStudio" links in the schedule. - Click on "Zoom". We will meet (optionally) via this tool on Monday 8:00-8:40 a.m. and 4:00-4:40 p.m. a.m. for public Q & A. - Return to the Schedule. - Print and read the lecture notes under the "1. Here is what we will do on the first day during the Q&A: - Discuss Syllabus questions. - Discuss Schedule questions. - Discuss questions on "1. Writing Functions" and Quiz 1. - Help with software installation problems. - Discuss other questions or comments from students. To communicate with me, our TA, and other students, visit Canvas and click: - "John's Q&A" for (optional) Q&A with John. This will be recorded. - "Xindi's Q&A" for (optional) Q&A / office hours with Xindi. - "John's Zoom office hour" for my office hour. - "Piazza" to ask a question and wait for an answer. (Use email rarely for personal administrative things.) If you have questions in response to this email, please bring them to a web conference or post them to piazza.
