Bret Larget
and
Jun Zhu.
are the professors for Statistics 571 in Fall 2005. We share a common course syllabus, will work from the same lecture notes, give common homework assignments, and give common examinations. We will strive to cover the same topics at nearly the same pace. Students are free to attend the alternative lecture when desired. |

Midterm 1 | [PDF] |
Midterm 2 | [PDF] |
Your exam on October 11 will contain four or five questions, each with several parts. Most questions will be very similar in style to those on some previous exams, but you should expect that some questions might test the course material in a novel fashion. The exam this year will cover material through the central limit theorem, and will not cover hypothesis testing. We have absolutely no expectation that you will go through each past exam in detail, but provide them so that you have an ample selection of problems from which to study. |

The final exam is scheduled
from 7:25pm to 9:25pm on Wednesday, December 21 in 2103 Chamberlin Hall. The exam will have five questions, but may be slightly longer than the midterms by containing more parts. The final exam is comprehensive. Approximately one half of the points will cover material since the last midterm (such as ANOVA, multiple comparisons, and simple linear regression) and about 20 and 30% of the exam will cover material from before the first and second midterms, respectively.

There will be a special review session
led by Tao Yu on Friday, December 16 from 2-3pm in 3425 Sterling Hall. You may pick up your most recent homework assignment from any instructor or ask for help during the following special office hours on Tuesday, December 20.
