Grace Wahba's talks at the Neural Information Processing Society 1996 Meeting, (NIPS 1996)- Model Complexity Workshop and Error Surfaces Workshop

I was invited to talk in two NIPS workshops, Model Complexity, organized by Chris Williams and Joachim Utans, on December 6, 1996 and Error Surfaces, organized by Sayandev Mukherjee and Terry Fine, on December 7, 1996.

The title of the Model Complexity Workshop talk is `RBF's SBF's TreeBF's, Smoothing Spline ANOVA: Representers and pseudo-representers for a dictionary of basis functions for penalized likelihood estimates'. A family of possibly new radial basis functions (CORRECTION: the radial basis functions in question have already been known as Matern functions) are given. Overheads with references for the Model Complexity Workshop talk are "here".

An abstract for the Error Surfaces Workshop talk is "here". A description of the Error Surfaces Workshop is "here". and a description of the Model Complexity Workshop is "here".
