I am an assistant professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since late 2018. I am also a faculty affiliate in Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning @ UW-Madison and Institute for Foundations of Data Science (IFDS), a multi-University TRIPODS Phase II Initiative. My research lies in the intersection of statsitics, machine learning, and optimization. Specific interests include theory of machine learning, higher-order tensor methods, high-dimensional and nonparametric statistics.

Prior to UW-Madison, I was a joint postdoc in Computer Science (EECS Department) at UC Berkeley and a Simons Math+X postdoc at University of Pennsylvania. I received my PhD in Statistics from the University of Chicago and BS in Mathematics from Fudan University.

My work is supported by NSF CAREER award DMS-214186 (sole PI), NSF DMS-1915978 (sole PI), and NSF EF-2133740 (UW-Madison PI).
