I am an assistant professor of statistics at University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2018. I am also a faculty affiliate in Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning at UW-Madison (2018-now), Institute for Foundations of Data Science (IFDS) (2018-now), a semester-long visiting faculty fellow in IPAM at UCLA (2021) and in Simons Institute at UC Berkeley (2022). Prior to UW-Madison, I was a joint postdoc in Computer Science at UC Berkeley and in Math+Biology at UPenn. I received my PhD in Statistics from University of Chicago and BS in Mathematics from Fudan University.
My research lies in the intersection of statsitics, machine learning, and genetics. I am the recipent of the NSF CAREER award DMS-2141865 (sole PI), NSF DMS-1915978 (sole PI), NSF EF-2133740 (UW-Madison PI), several best student paper awards (with me as advisor) from Statistics communities such as ASA, IMS and NESS, and multiple junior researcher awards from Genetics/CS communities such as ASHJ, IGES, ICML, and NeurIPS.
